Emerging from that American furnace, the city of Philadelphia, is a new duo to be heard. Want is comprised of Rosie Rae (Apologist, No Rent Records) and Yureka Cash, and “Succulent” is a sideways introductory tape by these two heads. Melodies half-resolve, purposeful digital clipping; bizarre, broken ambient music at a smeared, slowed tempo. I am partially reminded of a lot of the more psychedelic experimental cassette releases of of the 2000’s and early 2010’s, but with a distinctive modern and bloody set of teeth.
